I want to have a couple of problems — just a few,
and I’ll make some coffee, and I’ll make it through.
Nothing unsolvable, nothing unplanned
Just enough trouble that you’ll take my hand
and we’ll pull ourselves up, and we’ll face it together,
a much better pair for the rains that we weather.
We’ll build up some character, have an adventure,
Have the fun background that just one in ten share,
Make it to live to a hundred or so
with some scars and some wrinkles so all the kids know,
that they have it easy, and we had it rough
and we had a life, while all they have is stuff
and they’ll write on our gravestones: they fought till the end
and they rarely did bad, not a sin to defend.
